I'm excited to get started on fundraising for eMi and hope that you are excited to help me reach my goals. I have been blessed to work with eMi in the past and see the amazing things that can get done with the talents of a few engineers and architects and the visions of ministries around the world.
Two and a half years ago I went on a project trip with eMi to Haiti soon after the earthquake shook the Haitian people. We were the first eMi team to go there as a part of the rebuilding efforts. I was humbled to see the immense number of Haitians who were living on the streets with little to no water, food, or shelter, the basic necessities that I take for granted every day. Through the efforts of eMi's team we were able to design a new school, church, and health clinic for the community of Bon Repos. Not only would it provide a place for children to learn and be fed and for the community to receive health care, but it would also serve as a shelter in time of disaster. Already the community has seen benefits from the new design. The first school building has been complete and in use for the past year and the second building is scheduled to be finished and in use on October 1 (thats in one week). During Hurricane Isaac many people from the community took refuge in the school building as it was the only safe dry place in the neighborhood. The Haitian National Ministry of Public Works has even officially designated it as a 'Community Disaster Relief Shelter'.
